Scott Wurtz, World Music Percussionist
Scott Wurtz is a world music percussionist. His presence and ability to listen deeply to the musical fabric allow for an expansive dialog and creativity response with fellow musicians. As a practitioner of the healing arts, Scott brings heartfelt playfulness to the overall process of creating musical experiences. His musical passion is as an eclectic percussionist, fusing ethnic instruments in improvisational performances. Scott currently performs with Ancient Sounds and Phlōnomenon Improvisational Composition Fusion Trio.
In addition to a myriad of experiences performing with several world music groups, Scott earned a Bachelor of Arts from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont, while studying with Christopher Patten, Jazz Workshop director. He also attended the Creative Music Studio in Woodstock, New York, studying with directors Karl Hans and Ingrid Berger. As well, Scott attended Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael, California, studying with Ali Akbar Khan and Swapan Chaudhuri (Tabla).
